The Valley, Anguilla: Anguilla Lawyer, Palmavon Webster, an independent Candidate in District 1 (Island Harbour) was on Friday April 24th, 2015 sworn in as the Leader of the official Opposition in Anguilla’s House of Assembly by Governor Christina Scott. Webster is the only elected member of the House who is in Opposition. She is also one of three women elected to the House, in the recent historic elections.
Leader of The Opposition, Palmavon Webster is surrounded by family and supporters at her swearing in ceremony. Flanking her right shoulder is the retired politician and a former representative for the District, Kenneth Harrigan. His endorsement, it is believed, was a key factor in this hotly contested District being the only one that the governing Anguilla United Front did not win in this week’s election.
