Charlestown, Nevis, June 20, 2018 – Police said Wednesday a total of 23 charges have been brought against two public officers after cocaine, a gun and ammunition were seized at the Vance Amory International Airport in Nevis. The two officers, both brothers, have been charged with offences brought by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force and Her Majesty’s Customs and Excise Department. Customs Officer, Travonne Bryant and his brother, Tivonne Bryant who is a Port Officer, were arrested following a joint operation at the Vance Amory International Airport on June 14.
“One .357 Revolver with a number of ammunition were recovered inside a DVD player, while several packages of a substance suspected to be cocaine were discovered concealed in what appeared to be a colouring set,” a police statement said
Travonne and Tivonne of Brick Kiln, Nevis have been charged by the Police for the offences of Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Ammunition, Smuggling, Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Supply
Travonne Bryant was also charged with thirteen additional offences by the Customs and Excise Department: four (4) counts of Importation of a Restricted Good not in Accordance with the Conditions and Restrictions Imposed, four (4) counts of Importation of a Quantity of Goods Packed in a Manner Intended or Appearing to Deceive a Customs Officer, four (4) counts of Attempted Fraudulent Evasion and one (1) count of Removal of Goods from a Customs Controlled Area.
