(The Valley, Anguilla) – The Royal Anguilla Police Force (RAPF) has today Monday 8th April 2019 released statistics comparing the first three months of 2019 with the same period in 2018. Overall the amount of actual crime has reduced by 22% (down from 218 to 171 crimes in the period). While those brought to justice has more than doubled – up to 52%.
Figures for serious crime remain roughly the same, there was an encouraging increase in seizures of firearms and ammunition reflecting the priority the RAPF places on addressing the problem of guns, and the professionalism of their investigations. The figures also show an increase in the number of sexual offences which in significant part demonstrates a greater willingness of victims to report (in itself a good sign) and our efforts in child safeguarding.
The Commissioner of Police Mr. Paul Morrison take this opportunity to express heartfelt thanks to all the officers and staff of the RAPF for their dedication and hard work. Commissioner Morrison stated that crime reduction requires an overall team effort and also express thanks to the people of Anguilla for their continued support in the fight against crime.
