The Valley, Anguilla – The 2026 Inter-Primary Schools’ (IPS) Sports Day delivered a thrilling display of speed, strength, and school pride as fierce rivalries played out on Wednesday, 1 April at the Ronald Webster Park. The Pink Panthers of Orealia Kelly Primary School (OKPS) surged ahead of the competition, claiming a commanding victory with 576 points. Their closest challengers, the Rams of Adrian T. Hazell Primary School (ATHPS), fought hard but trailed with 504 points, while the Golden Horses of Valley Primary School (VPS) secured third place with 489 points.
Despite OKPS’s dominant team performance, the day belonged in part to the Grey Wolves of Alwyn Allison Richardson Primary School (AARPS), who delivered a stunning upset in the individual standings. Defying expectations, AARPS captured both top individual titles—proving that while team depth wins championships, standout talent can steal the spotlight. Master Jayden Hughes of AARPS was crowned Victor Ludorum with an outstanding 76 points, showcasing remarkable endurance and speed with victories in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, and 1200m events. Equally impressive, J’Ahvinique Huligar secured the Victrix Ludorum title with 42 points, dominating the Long Jump and 800m.
IPS Sports Day remains the pinnacle of the primary school athletics calendar, bringing together public, private, and home schools in a celebration of youth athletics. Final standings reflect combined performances across the IPS Road Race, Field Events, and Sports Day, underscoring the importance of consistency across disciplines. This year’s competition highlighted not only the powerhouses of school athletics but also the excitement of emerging talent—reminding all that on Sports Day, anything can happen.
